Back in November I was fortunate enough to be asked by to come out to California and make a chalk mural at the Long Beach Comic Con. The art was for the comic book Asylum by John Carpenter (yes, THAT John Carpenter) and is produced by Storm King Productions. It was truly an honor to be making art associated with one of the masters of horror, and director of some of my all time favorite films.

Asylum is a wonderful horror/supernatural book with the story by Thomas Ian Griffith and Sandy King, written by Bruce Jones, and featuring incredible art by Leonardo Manco. The description on the Storm King website reads:

“There’s a war coming to the City of Angels. In tunnels beneath the city, in the dark alleys among the homeless, demons lurk and Lucifer bides his time. One man knows. One man sees. One man walks those dark streets.

Father Daniel Beckett’s seen demons and he’s spoken to the Devil, but he’s never seen an angel and he’s never spoken to God. Obsessed and driven as much by betrayal as righteousness and anger as redemption, he walks the smoke-filled encampments of lost souls like Dante’s nine rings of the Inferno.”

The art was from a single panel in one issue, and I blew it up to 9 feet wide by 13 feet tall. In the end I had an amazing time, the show was a blast, everyone was incredibly nice, and I got to spend my birthday crawling around on a cement floor drawing artwork for JOHN CARPENTER!
